Corporate Power – Then and Now: The Significance of President Allende’s Historic 1972 Speech

This symposium is being held to mark the 50th anniversary of the late President Salvador Allende’s speech at the UN General Assembly in December 1972. Allende’s historic speech anticipates the rise of the Transnational Corporation and its emerging role in terms of political and economic power – a role of unaccountable corporate power which has achieved hegemony in how our society functions today.
