To mark this year’s International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, and as part of our involvement in the Publishers for Palestine initiative, TWAILR is today releasing an ebook which brings together a collection of writings on Palestine that we have published since we started the journal four years ago. One of the first pieces that we featured as part of our launch in 2019 was on Palestine, international law, imperialism and the Third World. Since then we have published a range of writings and materials related to various different aspects of TWAIL and the question of Palestine – comprising reflection essays, journal articles, fiction excerpts, public lectures, collective dialogues, musical narratives and teach-in video recordings. In the context of the current Israeli onslaught in Gaza, several of the most recent pieces we have published have focused on legal discourse and (in)justice in the Palestinian context.
Our Third World Approaches to International Law: Writings on Palestine, 2019-2023 ebook can be downloaded here. It features contributions from Noura Erakat, Basma Ghalayini, Selma Dabbagh, Victor Kattan, Steven Salaita, Neve Gordon & Nicola Perugini, Ayça Çubukçu, John Reynolds, Ata R. Hindi, Paola Zichi, Shahd Hammouri and Ardi Imseis.

We are releasing this ebook as part of the international #ReadPalestine Week which has been initiated by the Publishers for Palestine collective, and which starts on Wednesday 29 November 2023 to mark International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. During this week from 29 November to 5 December (and beyond), all of us as members of the collective are encouraging people around the world to read fiction and poetry by Palestinian and Palestinian diaspora authors, as well as non-fiction about Palestinian history, politics, arts, culture and life, and books about organizing, resistance, and solidarity for a Free Palestine.
To encourage the spread of #ReadPalestine, members of the Publishers of Palestine collective have organised a Free Palestine Reading List. Participating publishers will be offering one of their e-book titles for free download from 29 November to 5 December. All titles will be available through the Publishers for Palestine website.
We also encourage readers to post on social media about their favourite Palestine books, to quote from their favourite authors, and to make learning more about Palestine an act of solidarity, using the hashtags #ReadPalestine, #LirelaPalestine, #اقرأ_فلسطين, and more. Participating indie bookstores and libraries are invited to join us by creating Read Palestine displays, social media posts, and other forms of creative solidarity.
